Average movie. The movie is based on the scary stories books published in the early 90s and mid 80s. The 90s children who have read the books and who are a huge horror fan, they might like the film. This movie refreshes all the memories of childhood. The people who used to read all these books, they will quickly connect and enjoy the movie. The movie has an interesting base story which connects all different stories on to one base point. Each story is different as we read stories in the book. But the main story is added to bind all the stories together. The “scary” characters are added in exactly the same way as described in the books.

Directors have made a real effort to bring the haunting environment, scenes, jump scares in the movie. The story slowly pulls you into the movie. The picturization is finely done. The casts are very nice. All the children have played their role well. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark will take you to the old-style horror flick of a haunted house where the children get trapped and all.

I like haunted house horror films. They have shown the house beautifully. The twist and turns are added at the right time. It is an easy-going horror film. If someone who is extremely scared of horror and wish to start watching horror films, this movie you can start with.

I would say it is the same old-style horror movie served with lots of new spices. The movie has less jump scares, less haunting scenes. I must say if you are a big horror fan, it slightly might not stand up to the mark but you can give it a try once. You might get scared on the jump scares only. The book readers will love this movie. I will give it 3.5 out of 5.
